The survey results show that 83% of consumers plan to celebrate Mother's Day this year, and total spending on Mother's Day this year is expected to reach a record US$28.1 billion.

From the perspective of different age groups, consumers aged 25-34 have made a significant contribution to the increase in consumer spending on Mother’s Day. These consumer plans spend an average of US$367.08, an increase of US$99 from last year. Moreover, these consumers are most likely to plan to purchase high-priced gifts such as jewelry or electronics.
Not only that, in addition to buying gifts for their mothers, these consumers may also buy goods for their spouses, grandmothers or friends.
NRF also surveyed the products consumers plan to buy and listed the top ten most popular gifts, which are greeting cards (72%), flowers (68%), travel (49%), and gift cards (47%). , Clothing/accessories (40%), jewelry (35%), household goods/garden tools (26%), personalized services (25%), books/CD (23%) and electronic products (20%).

Among them, the performance of jewelry and electronic products is quite eye-catching. From the above data, it can be found that compared with last year, the total expenditure on Mother’s Day this year has increased by US$1.4 billion. NRF's survey results show that more than one-third (34%) of consumers plan to buy Mother's Day gifts online, higher than the pre-pandemic level. Previously, Snapchat's survey of platform users on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day found that after experiencing too much uncertainty in 2020, consumers this year paid particular attention to Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. 67% of American Snapchatters plan to spend the holidays with their families, and 46% of global Snapchatters plan to buy gifts to show their gratitude.
