Yien.com learned that Nazlia Yunus is 22 years old this year and has never expected to become an entrepreneur. Her previous plan was to pursue a medical career after graduation.

But life always doesn't go according to plan. She now runs a one-person jewelry business called Chvker. After introducing gold-plated and gold-plated chokers to Instagram celebrities, her career took off.

Annual sales are expected to reach 1 million US dollars

She said that this year (as of the end of July) this business has generated $600,000 in sales and is expected to reach $1 million.

Yunus said, "This happened by accident."

When she was a girl, she was very fond of handmade jewelry. "If I encounter difficulties, I will watch YouTube videos."

After entering college life, Yunus regained this interest.

Yunus is the first generation of Americans in the family. Her family immigrated to the United States from Uzbekistan, which made her a little lonely. It was difficult for her to adapt, but she found a positive way of coping. Buying $20 jewelry at Michael’s allowed her to start her own business.

18-year-old Yunus started selling necklaces on Etsy. She said: "When I was a little girl, I liked this necklace."

After graduating from college, she returned to Houston to live with her mother. As more time was invested, her business began to develop rapidly and sales continued to increase. So she set up a website with Shopify to sell necklaces and earrings. Subsequently, she also voted for Facebook and Instagram ads.

The celebrity endorsement helped her take off

Gradually, Yunus started contacting Instagram celebrities and asked them if they would like to wear her products. Some celebrities shared photos of wearing the product. She said that celebrities like Cierra Ramirez, Rebecca Black, Gabby Epstein and Sierra Furtado have worn her jewelry.

She said: "If celebrities post, I will see sales growth, which is slow and steady."

Last year, by using this strategy, Yunus brought 260,000 US dollars in sales, which was profitable after calculation.

Currently, Yunus produces all the jewellery by itself, designing from the afternoon to the evening, and packaging and shipping are carried out in the morning. Every day, she also posts pictures of her works on Instagram.

"I hope to hire employees to be responsible for jewelry making and packaging in the future. I may switch to manufacturing. The possibilities are endless."

Yunus said that the biggest mistake she has made so far is not seeking help from others. She always tried to solve problems on her own, and later learned to turn to friends for help, and asked them for advice in unfamiliar areas.

After graduation, Yunus gave himself a year to see if the business would succeed. Looking at it now, there is no doubt about it.

She said: "I think the growth rate is very fast, and I hope to maintain this growth."
